As most of you know I was a contributing writer this past year for Modern Alternative Health which was one of four blogs started by Modern Alternative Mama. Last week MAM announced that all four blogs where going to be joined back together into one blog so that you don’t miss out on any of the great posts being shared like you might have if you were trying to follow all four blogs. This means that there our team went from 50+ down to 20, I am happy to say that I was one of the writers asked to stay on and write for Modern Alternative Mama!

Christmas is just around the corner! Before you know it decorations will be every where you look and stores will be crowded with people.

I know, I know, it may seem a bit early to start talking about Christmas gifts when it’s not even Thanksgiving yet. Here’s the thing, I don’t know about you but crowds of people all searching for “the perfect gift” drains me.

I really prefer to make my own gifts. I love to give and receive simple homemade gifts. There is something delightful about opening a gift that someone made just for you. Another perk to making your own gifts is that you can control what ingredients go into them.

The trick is that you need to need to start EARLY! I started my vanilla extract last week so that it will be ready to give my friends when the holidays roll around. Later this week I am getting together with a friend to make a bunch of simple homemade gifts. We are going to make snowmen out of baby food jars and fill them with white lotion, salve and body scrub. We got the idea from this picture on Pintrest.

Homemade lip balm makes the perfect stocking stuffer or addition to another gift. Every year since I can remember my mom always put a chap stick tube or lip balm in our stockings. Maybe you can start a new tradition with your kids this year! Today I am sharing my tutorial on how to make your own peppermint lip balm!

Simple Homemade Gift Ideas

  • Marshmallows
  • Soap
  • Lotion
  • Scarves
  • Mint Extract
  • Vanilla Extract
