Shampoo

March 16, 2010 by Katie Mae Stanley 3 Comments

Recently I have started making my own shampoo. I don’t use it every day but I use it once a week or so to give my hair a break from my regular shampoo. It is easy to make and very frugal. There are many different combinations of herbs that you can use. The three that I picked are good for adding natural highlights to blond and light brown hair. If you do a little research you can find out which herbs best suit your hair type.

Shampoo

24oz Water
2oz Yarrow
1oz Chamomile
1oz Lavender
9oz Castile Soap

In essence you are making a strong tea for your hair. Bring the water to a boil and then add your herbs. Turn the heat down, cover and let simmer for 20 minutes. Strain and let cool. Once your tea is cooled add the castile soap and mix in. Pour your shampoo into a used shampoo bottle or a spray bottle. The shampoo is very liquidy, so you may prefer to use the spray bottle. Put your bottle of shampoo in the shower and shake well  before using as the soap tends to sink to the bottom.

Hehe, alisa, funny thing is that I was thinking yesterday that I wanted to add apple cider.
