Homemade Squeezable Bentonite Clay Toothpaste
- 4-6 TBS purified or distilled water
- 3 TBS bentonite clay
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp powdered stevia (or about 10 drops of liquid stevia)
- 1/4 tsp charcoal (optional)
- 1/8 tsp real salt
- 5-10 drops essential oil (peppermint, clove, lemon, or orange) (ask me my favourite brands)
- GoToob or small glass jar
Mix the dry ingredients in a small bowl using a plastic or wooden spoon. You never want your clay to touch metal.
Add the essential oils and stir again.
Add one tablespoon of water at a time, stir until you reach the consistency you desire. Spoon into a GoToob or small glass jar.

Very interesting recipe! I was looking for clay, where to find it, and I found out that there are many different types of clay with medicinal purposes, f.e. green clay. Some are more available to me than others. Does it matter which clay you use in this toothpaste?
Katie Mae Stanley
I have only used bentonite clay, so you would have to research each one.

wouldnt the toothpaste go bad since it has the water in it?
Katie Mae Stanley
I’ve never had that problem.

What are your favorite brands of essential oils? Thank you for your recipe!

Right now I am using mostly Plant Therapy. I do have a bit of doTerra, Young Living, and Mountian Rose Herbs in my collection as well. You’re welcome. 🙂

We gave up fluoridated toothpaste years ago and haven’t looked back. I love using clay because if the kids eat a little, it’s completely ok! 🙂

I know, right?!

I love the color. I like that it doesn’t have coconut oil, as I have a food intolerance and there are so many c.oil toothpaste recipes. Thanks for this. Love it! Pinning!
Katie Mae Stanley
🙂 Thanks friend! I decided I was done with coconut oil in my toothpaste. So sad that you can’t have it though…
