5 Steps Towards Simplicity-www.nourishingsimplicity.org

Need a bit of simplicity in your life? Me too. I write about simple living and continually find the need to simplify things in my life. We are all a work in progress!

Here are 5 tips that I have found help me as I continue in my journey towards simplicity.

5 Steps to Take Towards Simplicity

1. Start in one small location

Don’t set out a goal to simplify your entire home in one swoop. First of all, you will not be able to get it all done at one time. Second of all, you will get burned out. One of the first places I started was in my bathroom.

2. Don’t just organize, declutter.

An organized home may look nice, but stuff is still stuff. If you are wanting to simplify, things have to go.

3. Ask yourself, does this bring me joy, or is it useful?

Those are two things that I learned from my friend Elise of Richly Rooted in her book, “Your Simple Home Handbook”. It is also advice from the popular “Konmari Method”.

4. Remember that simple living isn’t just about things

While simple living is about getting rid of things it is also about look ing back over your schedule. We can have a simple home while living a hectic life. Is there anything that you need to cut back on? Recently I have been thinking about how I need to reevaluate how I spend my time and what I put on the schedule.

5. Bring simplicity into your kitchen

If you hang around the blog very much you know that I really enjoy cooking, talking about food, and writing about food. As much as I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen with things like egg rolls and homemade noodles on a daily basis I tend to stick with simple and nourishing meals.

What steps are you already taking towards simplicity? What should I add?
