Warm lemon water is one of the best ways you can start your day. Back in high school I drank warm lemon water while I was getting ready in the morning, then after a while I got out of the habit. I jumped on and off the warm lemon water band wagon for many years.

This past winter I decided to add warm lemon water to my morning routine. Now I can’t imagine starting my day without it!

Plain lemon water is honestly a bit boring and tart. I love the combination of lemon and vanilla so I knew that a warm vanilla lemonade was the way to go.

I was a huge fan of coffee or black tea first thing in the morning but after “fasting” for the night my body is more refreshed when I drink lemon water first. To be sure  I still have breakfast and coffee/tea later. I’d be crazy not to. 😉

My friend Mare of Just Making Noise (check out her new blog design, GORGEOUS) shared some of the benefits of drink lemon water in the mornings on Bulk Herb Store and well as her version of lemon “tea”. Since she explains it so well I’m going to leave those details to her for now and simply share my recipe with you! 🙂

Just tried this! It’s pretty interesting! I can see drinking it each morning. None of the ingredients are overpowering. This is from a first time warm lemon water drinker! And I know this is healthy for me! I also like the cayenne idea. So many health benefits there too. I also like how this doesn’t have to replace my beloved coffee

I was raised on warm water and lemon juice and in the past years have added 1/2 tsp of baking soda. Admittedly, it’s an acquired taste, but banking on the benefits!

I drink hot water with lemon every morning. I’m allergic to Stevia (causes massive headaches) but will definitely try the honey sweetened version for a treat!

I’m really excited to try this! I love that you put both the honey and stevia recipes, I’m a newly diagnosed diabetic and finding sugar-free recipes for stuff like this is surprisingly hard! Thanks for taking the guesswork out of the recipe! 🙂

Ooh, that sounds delicious! And simple to make. I might have to give it a try. I have tried to make a point of drinking lemon water first thing in the past, but haven’t followed through. Maybe this time I can make it stick!

I really enjoy hot lemon water with a teaspoon of local honey! Vanilla Lemonade sounds yummy, but I can’t have stevia (gives me migraines). I’m going to try it with a squirt of my recently homemade vanilla extract (but only a LITTLE — coz it was made with vodka!)

It’s weird how some of the sweeteners react with our bodies! I haven’t tried stevia, but I can eat or drink anything that contains aspartame, it gives me headaches and rarely joint aches.

I am thinking of trying the honey sweeteners recipe for sure

I still drink my coffee too! 😉 Stevia is the only alternative “sweetener” that I use.

This looks lovely. I’m all for lemon and vanilla together; it’s more satisfying in the long run than lemon by itself. And I love that you give both the stevia and honey versions. Thanks for this! <3

I know! I simply not a straight lemon water fan. My favourite is the stevia version.
