Who doesn’t like lotion? It is perfect gift to give in the winter when our hands are constantly dry and cracked from the cold and the wind. This one smells like a peppermint patty! So good you could eat it! Well, it’s edible but not advisable to try it. One of my friends did, mistaking it for frosting, lets just say you should save it for your hands… I found these cute little jars at Mountain Rose Herbs.
Peppermint Patty Hand Lotion

3/4 cup cocoa butter
1/3 cup oil olive oil
4 TBS bee’s wax pellets
1 cup distilled water
10 drops peppermint essential oil
10 drops grapefruit seed extract

Melt the cocoa butter, olive oil and bee’s wax in a double boiler*, stirring occasionally. Once melted set aside and let cool to room temperature. It will appear creamy and semisolid. Add the essential oil and grapefruit seed extract. Pour into a blender, turn onto the highest level creating a vortex. Slowly drizzle in the water creating a constant stream. Continue to blend until thick and light color, similar to frosting. Pour into desired jars, it will thicken as it sets.

*If you don’t have  a double boiler you can make a makeshift one out of a sauce pan, a glass pyrex measuring cup and a dish rag. Put a dish rag in the bottom of your sauce pot, place the glass measuring cup inside and fill the pot with water until the measuring cup in 1/2 submerged. The cloth is to keep the measuring cup from breaking.
