I love the fresh scent of oranges. The trees near my house are loaded with oranges, so this winter I have been making all sorts of tasty treats featuring their fruit. You know that I hate to waste anything so when it came to the peels, I didn’t want to just throw them away. I started coming up with or geaning some ideas from my friends.
One of the easiest and I mean easiest ways to use orange peels is to make your own cleaner. I use white vinegar to clean just about anything, unfortunately not everyone in my house likes the smell of it which leads to grouchy kids cleaning and complaining about it and begging to use to “old scented cleaners” again. Not way, not happening! Enter to orange peels.
My friend Mare of Just Making Noise made her own orange extract with peels and vodka, so I decided to make my own cleaner with peels and white vinegar. It’s so easy and smells amazing!
All Purpose Orange Cleaner
Glass Jar
Orange Peels
White Vinegar
Spray Bottle
Water
Fill your jar 3/4 full with orange peels. Pour in the white vinegar, filling to 1/2 inch below the top of the jar. Screw on the lid and store in a dark place. After two weeks you will have an orange scented cleaner with a light orange color.
Strain off the peels and compost.
Fill a spray bottle with one part orange vinegar and two parts water.
