I don’t know about you, but it’s important to me boost my family’s immune system and treat colds as naturally as possible. This time of year you will find elderberry syrup, homemade chicken stock, immunity boosting tincture and this cider at my house.

Be forewarned, this cider is not for the faint of heart; it will knock your socks off and kick your cold while it’s at it. It is loaded with vitamins‚ antioxidants and phytonutrients.
Join me at Frugal Granola to learn how to make your own!

This is a famous old recipe, known variously as fire cider, Dr. Christopher’s anti-plague tonic (for both chickens and people), and master tonic. Nothing new, but very effective.

No, it’s nothing new to be sure. I have never heard of Dr. Christopher’s anti-plague, I will have to look up his variation. I based my recipe off of at least 5 different cider recipes I found online and in books.

Just curious if you have recommendations on how to incorporate this tonic. I’m not faint of heart but I made some of this and a small sip made my stomach burn. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh, I’m so sorry! 🙁 I would try adding it to some olive oil and using it as a salad dressing, mixing it with juice or adding it to soup.
