The bathroom. It can seem like your worst enemy at times. Cabinets brimming over with too many or unused products. Bottles with just a bit left in them. Cleaning supplies….
Learning how to start simplifying your bathroom will bring you a peace of mind. When you get rid of the unnecessary items and reorganize it takes out that extra bit of stress that you don’t need.
Purge
We all have been guilty of saving empty or half used bottles of creams, shampoos, lotions and the like. If you aren’t using it toss it, if just a little is left, or give it away. Those bottles just add stress and clutter. I’m speaking to myself here as well. Writing this post is a reminder to me to get rid of a few more items that I just am not using.
Limit Your Toiletries
There is a freedom to limiting what you use. Leading a natural life style lends itself to fewer items in the bathroom. I really have five bathroom essentials: coconut oil, castile soap, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and bentonite clay. The first four have been part of my essentials list for about five years now, you can read about them here, where as clay joined my list a about two years ago.
Re-gift
As woman we are constantly being given body products as gifts. If it’s something that you aren’t going to use, re-gift it (just not to the person who gave it to you, so embarrassing). Another option is to give to to a charity or shelter.
Limit Your Cleaning Supplies
I keep it simple; baking soda, white vinegar, essential oils, soap, hydrogen peroxide and warm water.
Limit Your Linens
In all honesty my bathroom is so tiny that there isn’t room for extras. The off-season sheets are stored in a closet elsewhere and there are no extra bath towels. I am careful to wash them in the morning so that they will be dry by evening if someone wants to shower. This method has worked well for us.
Organize
Baskets
Baskets are always a useful and beautiful way to organize things around the house. Little baskets are perfect for keeping things on your counter organized. Makeup, simple toiletries that you use daily, like deodorant and lip balm. Cleaning rags can be stored in a small basket under the sink for easy cleaning.
Use hooks
Hooks take up less room than bars do and according to some people allow your towels to dry more quickly.
