Tired of buying pricey natural face scrubs at the store? This simple oatmeal frankincense face scrub can be whipped up in just a few minutes!

Dry skin, acne, lots of blackheads, does that sound familiar?

What you put on your skin matters as much as what you put in your body. Your skin is your body’s largest organ. It absorbs natural and toxic chemicals in less than 30 seconds. All the more reason to be cautious about what you put on it.

As you stroll down the skincare aisle at your local store in hopes of finding a truly natural product that is good for your body and works too you realize that it’s not an easy task.

DIY is often the way to go, but sometimes it is a bit overwhelming when you have to do the research, shop for the ingredients, and then make it. You can hope that it will turn work but you don’t always know if it will.

So frustrating right! Right?

Recently I discovered Simply Earth, they take the guesswork out of making your natural products from scratch. They are a subscription box service where they send you a box each month of essential oils, recipes, and most of the ingredients to make your products from scratch. My favourite recipe from this box? Their face scrub.

August’s box is all about skincare. It has four oils, a lavender hydrosol, and recipe cards. Plus it comes with a bonus box with extra things like roller bottles, almond oil, and the other fun things for new customers. Each recipe card has a star next to the ingredients not provided. This month it was basics like oatmeal, sugar, and water. Not too hard to come by, right?

The box comes with six other easy from scratch recipes that are easy to whip up!

If you are just jumping into essential oils and natural DIY this is a great way to start and give yourself a boost of confidence as you figure it out. Even if you are an old hat at this, it’s a treat to have it all ready for you. Plus the boxes are cute. 🙂

An oatmeal frankincense face scrub is the perfect way to take care of your skin and give it a bit of love! Dry skin? Oily skin? Blackheads? This scrubs helps with all of that and more.

It takes minutes to make and leaves your face feel so soft, clean, and refreshed!

How To Make Oatmeal Frankincense Face Scrub From Scratch

The Key Players

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is the base for this face scrub. It is amazing for your skin. You’ve probably heard of a mom saying to take an oatmeal bath for itchy skin or a rash. Oatmeal is a wonder worker for your face.

It contains zinc which reduces inflammation from breakouts. It can also soaks up excess oil from your face. At the same time gently exfoliates, removing dead and dry skin. Yet oats are also moisturizing, providing a protective barrier to keep moisture in your skin.

Oats cleanse the skin and draw impurities from your pores, helping clear up blackheads.

Sugar

Sugar contains glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy that can boost new skin cell growth! The coarseness also helps to gently smooth the skin, polishing away dead skin cells.

Honey

Honey is anti-bacterial, it can help break down the bacteria that causes acne and blackheads. If you can use raw honey, all the better! It is a gentle exfoliant. It works to hydrate your skin as you rub it on. Like sugar, honey also contains glycolic acid and other alpha hydroxides.

Almond Oil

Almond oil can reduce skin irritation. It helps to soften and hydrate your skin. Some people even notice a reduction in the size of scars when using almond oil!

Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense essential oil has long been a part of my skincare routine. It contains Limonene, which has anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. The oil acts as an astringent, pulling impurities from the skin. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles and stimulates the new cell growth!

All five ingredients in this oatmeal frankincense face scrub work hand and hand to create just what your face needs! It leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean. The scrub almost smells good enough to eat! I wouldn’t suggest that though. 😉

Isn’t it amazing how God created all of these things to nourish and care for our skin?!

When you use the scrub along with the other five recipes in July’s box you will feel like your face had a day at the spa! Go ahead and soak your feet too for an overall spa experience. I am already excited for the next time I  treat my face to the routine.

Time-saving tip: Blend up a larger portion of oatmeal and sugar. When you are ready to make your scrub scoop some into a small bowl and add the oil, honey, and essential oil.
