When Ungraditide Sneeks In

November 21, 2012 by Katie Mae Stanley Leave a Comment

Resently I have noticed some ugly things poping up in my life. The nasty spirit of ungratuiute wiggling it’s way in and taking root. This morning I had to will myself to hang the laundry to dry. Not realizing what dirty laundry of my heart was going to be airing as well. I mumbled and grambled to myself as I picked up the basket to carry it out. For all the thing I’ve said about why it’s better to line dry than use your drier, all those things went out the window. All I could think about was how much I wanted a drier.

As I picked up a wet towel, it came to me. I became aware and ashammed of my own negtive and ungreatful spirit. As I looked at each item going on the line a new thought filled my head. I have a bath towel. That towel signifed that I have a shower with warm water to bath in, I have a towel to dry off with. Clean, damp sheets means that I have a bed to sleep in. Ten bathing suits on the line is a reminder of the 10 blesings I have the pleasure of raising that I took swiming two days ago to escape the heat. Those kitchen towels, they dried the plates that I eat a full meal off of.

I am a blessed woman that gets to care for 10 amazing Deaf girls. We have a home, beds to sleep in, cloths to wear, food to eat, warm running water to bath in. How can I begude the little things in life like hanging up laundry when that laundry is a reminder of how blessed I trully am?

It’s the little blessings in life that remind us of who we are, what an amazing Heavenly Papa we serve and how he provides for us daily.

Yesterday an older gentleman was talking to me as I weeded the garden. He told me, your day will be so much better now that you have spent time with your hands in the soil. He’s right. Why were my hands in the soil? I have a garden with food growing in it. Pulling weeds is a part of the privlage of growing some of my own food.
