This simple garlic butter is the prefect addition to a slice of hot crusty bread fresh from the oven. It combines to of my favourite ingredients in the kitchen, butter and garlic, with those two it’s hard to go wrong.
It is inspired by an amazing Italian restaurant in town that has been in business for many years, Pietro’s. We went there about once a month for lunch after church growing up. In my younger years I didn’t care for butter unless it was garlic butter, then I would eat gobs of it! Bread was simply a vehicle for more garlic butter.
This simple garlic butter is so easy to make that you almost can’t even call this a recipe. It has three ingredients- butter, fresh garlic, and dried oregano. That is it. If you can use butter from grass-fed cows such as Kerrygold you are only going to up the nutrition value of the butter by getting extra Vitamin K2 and Vitamin A.
I created a wide verity of garlic butters growing up. If mom was cooking Italian you better bet I was making garlic butter. Some were amazing and some not quite as good but I ate them anyway. I would never have thought back then that garlic butter could be so good yet so simple!
Don’t just limit your garlic butter to bread. Have a steak? Top it with this simple garlic butter. Eating steamed vegetables? Garlic butter not only enhances the flavor but helps your body digest them more easily. Having chicken for dinner? Why not saute it with butter?
I think you get the point. If you are having a savory dish there are endless ways to use garlic butter. Remember they are all vehicle to eat more butter!
