Rich cocoa powder, creamy milk, and Indian spices mingle to create the perfect cup of nourishing chai hot cocoa.
Is there anything better than wrapping your hands around a mug of hot cocoa on a cold winter’s day?
Hot cocoa is a reminder to slow down and savor the moment- hygee in a cup because it is pure coziness! You can sip hot cocoa with your favourite people or while curled up in a chair watching the snowfall, or rain if you are from my area… (Yes, I am an INFP and a 9 wing 1. We were made for winter.)
Does making hot cocoa from scratch seem a bit daunting when you grew up ripping open a packet and mixing it with hot water? It doesn’t have to be! All you need is milk, cocoa powder, and a sweetener. All the other things are just fun bonuses!
Hot cocoa is kind of, maybe, really an obsession of mine. It all started with a steaming cup of coconut milk hot cocoa about 10 years ago and has brought us to this delight version with a spicy chai twist!
Full of raw milk or whatever your favourite type is, cocoa powder, maple syrup, warming Indian spices, and collagen for a protein boost this hot cocoa is created to nourish you from the inside out.
Forget the days of too-sweet beverages with not so awesome ingredients, you can make nourishing beverages just how you like them!
This nourishing chai hot cocoa is delicious on its own but all the more delightful when you top it with a maple chai-spiced marshmallow and vanilla maple whipped cream.

Ingredients
- 2 cups raw milk, or milk of choice
- 1/2 cup chai concentrate*
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or raw honey
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons collagen (optional)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon urefined salt
Instructions
Gently warm the milk and 1/4 cup of the chai over medium-low heat. If you are using raw milk it is best to not heat it past 110○ F.
While the milk-chai mixture is heating make a paste by mixing the cocoa powder, collagen, maple syurp/honey, salt, vanilla, and remaining chai.
Once the milk is warm add the paste to the milk and stir until fully incorperated. If desired use a milk frother to create foam. For a special treat top with chai maple marshmalllows and vanilla whipped cream.
