Who doesn’t enjoy an occational drink at the local coffee shop? Even before I truly embraced coffee I enjoyed a special treat once or twice a year. When drinks are that chocolatey and sugary sometimes it’s easy to miss the coffee!
It’s no secret that I love crafting coffee drinks at home. It allows me to have all the flavor but get do away with the less than stellar ingredients you find when you go out.
The last “fancy” coffee I had out was a java chip frapuccino, since that day I have not been able to get it out of my head. Hence where this delightful treat came into play.
It is slightly sweet allowing the coffee to still shine. I like to use coffee ice cubes in my drinks. It really does make all the difference!
The great thing about this recipe is that you can modify it to suit your eating style. Dairy-free or keto? Swap the raw milk for coconut milk.
Keto Swap:
- 1 cup full fat coconut milk + 1 cup water
- Vanilla stevia instead of vanilla extract and maple syrup
- Stevia sweetened chocolate chips instead of regular
Paleo Swap:
- 1 cup full fat coconut milk + 1 cup water or a nut milk
- Coconut whipped cream instead of traditional whipped cream

Katie Mae, you are so good at coming up with delicious coffee drinks, and this one’s no surprise! Love that drizzle on top, too!

I must admit, I’m a twice daily coffee shop kind of gal, but not normally fancy drinks. I might have one a season to see what’s new in fancy coffee. I do however like to make fancy coffee variations at home, so this looks awesome. I love that you added a pinch of salt, I always find a pinch of salt really boosts the flavour of any sweet thing.
Yvonne
Certainly fancy and delicious and looks so much better than Starbucks.
Carrie
This sounds amazing I love the idea of vanilla whipped cream on top. Can’t wait to try this!
Cathy
It was the fancy drinks that got me hooked on coffee! Now, I find them too sweet and prefer a good quality pour over with cream. However, this one looks wonderful! I wonder how it would be hot. We have a Christmas morning tradition of making half coffee and half hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. Your recipe reminds me of that.

Wow, this looks like an amazing combination of ingredients. Just yum!

Such a healthier alternative to the sugar-loaded coffee drinks sold at coffee shops. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah… I probably need this in my life. How did you know? Haha. Need to make some more of those coffee ice cubes and give it a try!

That looks amazing!!! Java chip is my favorite flavor but I’m with you about all the icky ingredients in the commercially made version. Thanks for another great recipe!!!

I love your recipes and such, but I am a diabetic and would love to see carb values of the recipes. Or maybe a website or blog that is diabetic friendly. Thank you
Katie Mae Stanley
I think you can enter all the ingredients into a calculator online. It’s not something I have time for at the moment. I’ll look and see if their is a free program you can use to do that. If I hear of any blogs I can let you know. Right now none come to mind.

I think this would work for you. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/recipe/calculator
