A glossy white cloth covered the table. On it was a beautiful sugar white cake and tall glasses… “Is your lemonade sweet enough?” Mrs. Olsen asked. So Laura knew that it was lemonade in the glasses. She had never tasted anything like it. (On the Banks of Plum Creek)

Welcome to my fourth post of Cooking Through “Little House”. Thanks for coming along on the journey so far in trying out some foods from my favorite childhood books. Today as you already know is lemonade. The lemon trees at our school are producing in abundance right now making this the perfect time of year to make a nice refreshing glass of lemonade.

Hey sweetie! I just adore that you are cooking through little house! Lemonade is one of my favorites, but I absolutely flip over limeade because my granny used to make it for me, and now, i keep limes in whey, water and sugar and make continuous limeade whey soda! Thanks so much for sharing on the hearth and soul hop this week! All the best. Alex

The kiddos and I were just talking about how wonderful fresh squeezed citrus…anything…is! I’ve never sweetened lemonade w/ honey before, I’ll definitely try it next time. Sounds so refreshing! Thanks for sharing it w/ the hearth and soul hop this week 😀
